A Student Visa holder can declare their immediate family on their visa application and can immediately fly with them to Australia and stay for as long as the Student Visa lasts. Under this kind of entry to the country, the immediate family coming with the student are called Dependent Entrants. The other kind of entry will refer to them as Subsequent Entrants, wherein an existing Student Visa can support an immediate family’s application for a Student Visa (Subsequent Entrants) classification. Once approved, the family members can then follow their student to Australia.

3. UK: Student Visa Dependents

For the United Kingdom immigration, students of a post-graduate degree in possession of a Student Visa can declare their partner and children as Dependents of a Student Visa. These family members can then stay in the country for as long as the Student Visa is valid.

4. Ireland: Family Reunification Visa

Ireland also makes it easy for family members to come stay in their country with their Family Reunification Visa. A PhD student studying in an Irish-accredited program can use their Student Visa to sponsor and support their immediate family and elderly parents to get approved for a Family Visa.

5. New Zealand: Visitor Visa or Work Visa

And for New Zealand, immigration is fairly straightforward. Students with Student Visas can support their partner’s or children’s application for a Visitor Visa to get a higher rate of approval. They can also use their Student Visa to support their partner’s application for a Work Visa which may also get a higher chance of approval.
